Meet Our Team

  • Kaitlin Gray
    - Veterinary Assistant

I've been a member of the Uptown Vet team since January of 2018. At home, I have a one-eyed dog named Whittaker, a cat named Charlie, and 1-5 foster kittens depending on the day. My passion is caring for animals, and I will do everything I can to make sure your furry family members are happy and healthy!

In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar, baking things that are terrible for me, kayaking, and reading.

I have always had a love for animals, and while growing up in Columbus, Ohio was blessed to live in a house full of little critters. I received a degree in natural resources and wildlife management which led to a job at the Columbus Zoo.

I relocated from Illinois in 2017 where I was employed at a 7 doctor clinic.  I am very excited to be part of Uptown Veterinary Hospital's family as well as becoming part of your extended family.  I enjoy spending time with my family and our fur babies Lieutenant Hopper, our Dutch Rabbit and Sassy, our Himalayan cat.  In my spare time, I enjoy Nascar, football, and hockey.  So stop in with your fur baby and say Hi!

  • Alex Midgley
    - Veterinary Assistant

Hi my name is Alexandra Midgley. You can call me Alex for short. I am a new addition to the Uptown Vet family and I am excited to learn and grow as an up and coming Veterinary Technician. Currently, I am enrolled at Penn Foster and hope to be a Certified Vet Tech in a few years. I have been working in the veterinary field for a little over a year with a background in caring for reptiles, birds, dogs, cats and pocket pets including ferrets, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits and rats. I love every one of them including the scaly type! Yes someone has to love them too! I knew I wanted to care for animals since the 2nd grade.  Right now we have a family dog named Sasha who is a 6 year old female Keeshond.  I hope to have a few more fur babies of my own in the future.

    Eric Tempel
    - Associate Veterinarian, ABVP

I am originally a native of northeastern Kansas. I was inspired to pursue a career in veterinary medicine after adopting a Siberian Husky named Mila. Along with my family and other pets, Mila continues to be a source of inspiration for me.

After earning a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Kansas, I attended Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating cum laude in 2013. Following one year of private practice, I returned to the academic setting to acquire additional training and elevate my level of patient care. In 2015 I completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Virginia Tech’s College of Veterinary Medicine. I remained at Virginia Tech for an additional two years and recently completed an American Board of Veterinary Practitioners residency in canine and feline medicine.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter, walking our dogs, and watching Kansas Jayhawks basketball (Rock Chalk!). My other hobbies include playing guitar, reading, and automobiles. I am excited to be a part of the team at Uptown Veterinary Hospital and look forward to meeting you and your pet!

  • Lexie Herrick
    - Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant

After spending our whole lives in the Midwest, my husband and I decided to move to Charlotte 3 years ago! We absolutely love it! I grew up in Nebraska and went to school at Kansas State University, where I graduated with a degree in Animal Science. I have always loved animals and knew I wanted to have a career centered around them! I started bringing my dogs to Uptown Vet when it first opened and have always loved the friendly and caring staff. I am so happy to join such an amazing team! I have 4 amazing rescue dogs (Skyy, Charlie, Kansas and Eisenhower) and a handsome horse (Gus) that occupy all my free time, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!!

    Kelly Vida
    - Associate Veterinarian

I grew up in the Nashville area and attended the University of Tennessee for both undergraduate and veterinary education.  I recently moved to the Charlotte area after practicing as an associate in Northern Virginia for 8 years.  I have special interests in ophthalmology, ultrasonography, and soft tissue surgery.  In my free time, I enjoy hiking and camping with my husband, taking barre classes, and trying local restaurants.  I am excited to be in the area and to meet you and your loved one!

  • Brooke Spolidoro
    - Veterinary Assistant

Hi there, I'm Brooke - nickname is Brookie here at Uptown! I joined this wonderful team in January 2020. With the teaching and guidance from Uptown Vet, I am in the works of becoming a Veterinary Technician. I come from a rescue home where we have rescued and re-homed since we moved here from Ft. Lauderdale in 2003. Currently, my rescue family is five dogs - Raven, Diesel, Molly, Teddy, and Chrissy and two cats - Alfie and Midnight. After working four years at a local pet store and rescuing fur babies, my love and care for fur-babies, reptiles, pocket pets and more grew fonder!! My fur-babies mean the world to me - I know yours mean the world to you! While not at Uptown Vet, I enjoy spending time with my Fiancé, Elijah, and our dog, Raven taking long walks on the greenway, hiking and binge watching my favorite shows!
